Prime minister of Bosnia's Federation entity (FBiH) Nermin Niksic met with Palestinian ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Rezeq Namoora on Monday, expressing sympathy and understanding for what the Palestinian people are going through in the Gaza Strip at the moment.
He also expressed readiness to provide aid and informed ambassador about recent conclusion of the FBiH entity government to offer temporary accommodation for orphaned children from the SOS Children's Village in Rafah, Palestine.
Niksic and minister for refugees and displaced persons Nerin Dizdar explained that this decision would be implemented in line with international and Bosnian laws, and only with the approval of the Palestinian authorities.
The ambassador thanked for the offer, saying that the final decision will be made by competent authorities of Palestine.
He told PM Niksic that out of total 2.3 million residents of the Gaza Strip 1.5 million are currently displaced or homeless.
To date, 5,200 people were killed and some 16,000 seriously injured. According to estimates, some 1,500 are dead under the ruins.
The ambassador also informed the FBiH officials about bad healthcare situation and threats of infection, pointing out that the number of trucks carrying humanitarian aid hat entered the area is only sufficient for the needs of just one settlement.
He thanked the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina for taking part in the peaceful gathering this weekend in Sarajevo and expressing support to the Palestinian people.
