The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Doha Forum, one of the leading international conferences on global governance and diplomacy. The two ministers exchanged views on processes they described as crucial for stabilizing states affected by prolonged crises.
According to the statement, Minister al-Shaibani outlined the steps the Syrian government is taking in the post-conflict period, including humanitarian programmes, transitional justice initiatives, the return of displaced populations, and efforts to rebuild the country’s heavily damaged economy.
He emphasized that Syria’s recovery will be a long and difficult process, but said the goal remains to restore public trust and ensure stability with the support of the international community.
Minister Konakovic noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina, itself a country that emerged from a devastating conflict in the 1990s, understands the complexity of post-war challenges. He stressed that stabilization and economic reconstruction are essential foundations for long-term security and development.
Konakovic said that creating stable conditions is a priority for any country navigating sensitive phases of recovery and emphasized Bosnia’s support for diplomatic engagement aimed at securing lasting peace in the region.
