In a frank and constructive conversation, the two discussed current issues facing the Jewish Community, including the broader challenges it encounters in today’s social and political climate.
Particular attention was paid to the recent cancellation of the European Rabbinical Conference, which had reportedly been scheduled to take place in Sarajevo. Minister Konakovic reaffirmed Bosnia's commitment to upholding religious freedom, encouraging interfaith dialogue, and supporting international events that foster mutual understanding and cooperation among religious communities.
Throughout today's meeting, the Jewish Community was recognised as an integral and enduring part of Bosnian society. Minister Konakovic emphasised the historical and cultural contributions of the Jewish people to Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting the country’s long-standing tradition of coexistence and solidarity, especially Sarajevo’s role as a refuge for Jews fleeing persecution in the 15th century.
