Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) foreign trade deficit hit 9.4 billion Bosnian marks (€4.8 billion) in the first nine months of this year, Bosnia’s Statistics Agency said.
BiH exported goods worth 11.9 billion marks (€6.1 billion) from January to September, marking a 6.1 percent drop compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, imports reached 21.3 billion marks (€11.0 billion), reflecting a 2.6 percent increase. The overall trade balance shows an import-export coverage of 55.8 percent.
Trade with CEFTA countries saw exports totalling 1.99 billion marks (€1.0 billion), a 15.6 percent decrease year-on-year, while imports rose by 2.8 percent to 2.51 billion marks (€1.28 billion). The import-export coverage for trade with CEFTA countries stood at 79.4 percent.
Exports to EU countries amounted to 8.77 billion marks (€4.47 billion), down 5.9 percent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, imports from the EU grew by 4 percent, totalling 12.67 billion marks (€6.45 billion). The import-export coverage with EU countries was recorded at 69.2 percent.
