On the occasion of the strong earthquake that hit several southern provinces of Turkiye, and which caused not only enormous material damage but also a large number of dead and injured, Bosnia’s Grand Mufti Husein Kavazovic sent a telegram of condolence to the President of Turkiye, Recep Erdogan, the President of the Diyanet, Ali Erbaş and the entire Turkish people.

“Natural disasters, in whatever form they appear, are temptations sent to us by our Lord. The disaster that hit the southern regions of the Republic of Turkiye this morning took on enormous proportions, destroyed homes and took the lives of many people, and brought sadness and pain to the soul of the Turkish people,” the Grand Mufti wrote.

In the name of the Islamic community and in my own name, I send you deepest sympathy and I ask Allah to have mercy on the victims and to give their families and relatives, and all of us, peace and ease the pain,” Kavazovic wrote.

According to the latest information, around a thousand people were killed, over 5,000 were injured, and some 3,000 buildings were destroyed after the 7.4-degree earthquake hit the southeastern regions of Turkey.
