HJPC President Sanin Bogunic told reporters that the Council convened in Brcko to acknowledge the District’s role as a trailblazer in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s judicial reform. He praised the local judiciary’s performance as exemplary.

Commenting on wider reforms, Bogunic noted that the process is ongoing, with new legislation currently under consideration in the state parliament. He also announced that a new Department for the Verification of Assets of Judges and Prosecutors will officially begin operations next Monday.

“We’ve taken all the necessary steps to launch the Department, and we expect it to start operating very soon, to our satisfaction and that of our international partners. This is one of the key requirements for modernising the judiciary. We will begin reviewing the assets of judges and prosecutors in BiH for the past year, and possibly the year before that,” Bogunic said.

He added that while a similar mechanism existed in the past, it will now be upgraded with a dedicated digital platform to boost transparency and public confidence in the judicial system.

The session will continue on Thursday, with several judicial appointments expected. The Council is also set to adopt new rules on salary criteria and procedures for professional staff, along with other key documents essential to its work.

Bogunic reiterated that the judiciary in Brcko operates efficiently and serves as a model for the rest of the country.
