Borjana Kristo, the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is joining the leaders of the Western Balkans and the European Union in a summit in Tirana on Wednesday. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy will also join the event that will discuss a growth plan and accelerated integration of the Western Balkan countries in the EU.
The Ukrainian leader arrived in the capital of Albania shortly before midnight on Tuesday, only days after Ukraine marked the anniversary of Russia's invasion of his country.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Zelenskiy is co-organiser of the event and will hold bilateral meetings with Albanian political leaders prior to the main event.
Among the participants are European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Oliver Varhelyi, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, North Macedonia President Stevo Pendarovski, Montenegro President Jakov Milatovic, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Chairwoman of BiH Council of Ministers Borjana Kristo and President of Moldova Maia Sandu.
It is expected that the leaders will extend their stay in Tirana on Thursday.
