As part of the operational action "Boulevard", police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) conducted searches of residential and business buildings and movable property at 11 locations in the area of Central Bosnia Canton, while the search at the twelfth location is still ongoing.
Ten people have been arrested so far, suspected of money laundering.
The searches were carried out by the order of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo and under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Sarajevo.
So far, some 618,025.64 Bosnian marks (around €310,000) and € 35,513.93 have been blocked on various bank accounts, the SIPA spokesperson announced.
The announcement added that SIPA officers identified real estate that the suspects allegedly acquired through crime – 20 apartments, 26 storage rooms and 16 garage spaces in the Sarajevo area.
The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of the Sarajevo Canton thus issued a decision on the temporary ban on the disposal of the said real estate, which will be assigned to the Federation (FBiH) entity Agency for the Management of Confiscated Property for further jurisdiction.
