Bosnia's Turkovic and IRMCT Chief Prosecutor Brammertz discuss cooperation

BiH Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic met in Sarajevo with the Chief Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) Serge Brammertz, who is visiting BiH as part of the regular report to the UN Security Council, the Minister’s PR office said Thursday.

The topics of discussion were the cooperation of domestic institutions with the Prosecutorial Mechanism in prosecuting war crimes in BiH, regional judicial cooperation in war crimes cases, and the problem of continuous denial of genocide and glorification of war criminals in BiH and the region.

During the meeting, Minister Turkovic emphasized the importance of efficient implementation of the Revised State Strategy for War Crimes in all its aspects and the adoption of the Decision on Registration of Judgments of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and the International Residual Mechanism for Hague Criminal Tribunals in BiH.

The cases of BiH citizens Osman Osmanovic and Husein Mujanovic, for whom Bosnia asked Serbia that they be ceded to BiH justice, in accordance with the signed protocol, were also discussed at the meeting.

Chief Prosecutor Brammertz stressed the need to strengthen regional co-operation in the justice system and stressed the good co-operation of the IRMCT Prosecution with Prosecutors’ Offices in BiH and the region.
