Catholics across Bosnia and Herzegovina are celebrating Easter on Sunday. Many Catholics attended morning mass in Sarajevo's Sacred Heart Cathedral. An Easter egg was also placed in front of the cathedral, which the citizens coloured together.
“Today we send messages of peace, well-being, mutual respect, and if people are at odds with each other over some little issues and don't talk to each other, that they should reconcile and overcome those issues that have been separating them for years,” one of the citizens in downtown Sarajevo told N1.
The Easter egg in front of the cathedral was placed on Good Friday. Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karic also handed out Easter eggs there.
Sarajevo Archbishop Tomo Vuksic called on the faithful to understand Easter as a reminder of the moment when life triumphs over death and as the beginning of a new period of broader understanding, kindness, and solidarity with all people, especially those who suffer the most.
He expressed his wish that the announced Europeanisation of BiH will be a new hope for all people in the country.
