Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Becirovic, met with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament, Lorenzo Fontana, during an official visit to Italy.

During the discussions, both Becirovic and Fontana emphasized the very good and friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy. They noted that there is additional space for further enhancement of relations in the areas of economy, culture, education, city and regional connections, joint actions through international organizations, and encouraging direct contacts between citizens of the two countries.

Chairman Becirovic highlighted the importance of strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina's relations with Italy, an EU and NATO founding member. Italy is also part of several regional initiatives, such as the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative, the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR), and the Central European Initiative (CEI).

Becirovic mentioned that Italy plays a significant role in promoting stability and prosperity in the region, providing substantial support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in its reform processes and European and Euro-Atlantic integrations. Italy's commitment to regional cooperation and bilateral relations contributes to strengthening peace and security, as well as the economic development of the entire region. He also proposed that the Italian Parliament adopt a resolution supporting the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Lorenzo Fontana emphasized Italy's commitment to promoting Bosnia and Herzegovina's European and Euro-Atlantic integrations, offering technical and advisory assistance in the reform process. He stated that Italian parliamentarians are well-informed about the challenges facing Bosnia and Herzegovina and are ready to contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Becirovic expressed satisfaction that this is the second time he has met with the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies in Rome, recalling his previous meeting with President Laura Boldrini eleven years ago. He highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening the ties between the two countries.
