Officers from the Federal Police Administration (FUP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina have arrested a Chinese national, identified as Y.Z. (born in 1983), in connection with an ongoing investigation into a transnational organised crime group involved in international prostitution.

The arrest took place at the premises of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs and marks a significant development in a broader operation aimed at dismantling a criminal network accused of facilitating and profiting from illegal sexual services.

According to FUP, following extensive investigative procedures and the questioning of multiple witnesses, there is reasonable suspicion that Y.Z. orchestrated and profited from the activities of several women, all Chinese nationals without legal residence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Between February and June of this year, the suspect allegedly arranged accommodation, transportation, and clients for the women in multiple Bosnian cities, including Sarajevo, Mostar, Doboj, and Banja Luka.

Authorities believe Y.Z. personally collected the earnings obtained through the provision of sexual services by the women he allegedly directed and supported.

The Federal Police have confirmed that Y.Z. will be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina along with a report outlining the charges of international incitement to prostitution, a criminal offence under Bosnian law.

In an earlier phase of the same operation, FUP dismantled two separate international criminal organisations, including a Chinese network which is now considered to be fully neutralised within the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Investigations into a Brazilian criminal group believed to be involved in similar offences are still ongoing, and authorities anticipate further arrests in the near future.

The FUP stressed the seriousness of the case, citing it as a clear example of transnational organised crime that exploits vulnerable individuals for profit, while reaffirming their commitment to tackling such offenses across the country.
