Commemoration marks 34 years since abduction and massacre of Sjeverin civilians

According to the Sarajevo-based Association for Social Research and Communications, the attack occurred when Lukic and two unidentified accomplices stopped a bus operated by the Raketa company in the village of Mioce, within the Bosnian municipality of Rudo. After inspecting passenger identity documents, the armed group forced fifteen men and one woman off the vehicle.

The captives were transported by truck, driven by Oliver Krsmanovic, to the Vilina Vlas hotel in Visegrad. Upon arrival, paramilitaries searched the victims, confiscated their documents, and subjected them to severe physical abuse with wooden sticks inside the hotel lobby. The group was subsequently taken to the banks of the Drina River and executed. In a separate incident during the preceding night, another local resident, Sabahudin Catovic, was abducted outside his family home and remains missing.

In 2005, the Belgrade District Court convicted four members of the paramilitary unit for torturing and murdering the victims. Milan Lukic, Oliver Krsmanovic, and Dragutin Dragicevic each received 20-year prison sentences, whilst Djordje Sevic was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Five additional participants in the crime remain unidentified.

To date, the mortal remains of only one victim, Medredin Hodzic, have been recovered, whilst the search for the remaining missing persons continues.
