Convicted war criminal Biljana Plavsic dies in Belgrade aged 95
Biljana Plavsic, a former member of the wartime leadership of Republika Srpska and former member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has died in Belgrade at the age of 95.
Plavsic pleaded guilty before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague to persecution on political, racial, and religious grounds. Following her guilty plea, she was sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2003.
She was released from prison in 2009 after serving two-thirds of her sentence.
