U.S. State Department Counselor Derek Chollet said he had a productive meeting with High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt Monday.
Chollet reiterated the position of the United States that “they support the OHR’s essential role” and the mandate of the High Representative in maintaining the Dayton peace in BiH.
He added that they also support work on fulfilling the 5+2 Agenda, which would lead to the cessation of international supervision in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The US State Department Counselor will be in Bosnia from November 15-17 to reaffirm the United States’ support for BiH's sovereignty and territorial integrity and call on the country's leaders to engage in a constructive dialogue.
Chollet arrived in BiH just days after the visit of Gabriel Escobar, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, who told BiH citizens that his country would never support unilateral activities that would jeopardize the Dayton Peace Accords, be unconstitutional and create some kind of problem in BiH.
