Croatian Caritas is continuing its efforts to collect donations for the population affected by the devastating floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Thanks to the generosity of numerous citizens, Croatian Caritas has raised and sent an additional €160,000 to provide essential aid to those in need, the organization said.

The catastrophic floods that struck Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 4 and 5, 2024, caused extensive damage in a short period. Many lives were tragically lost, homes were destroyed, and people saw their possessions—including furniture, cars, agricultural equipment, and other material goods—swept away. In response, Croatian Caritas launched a humanitarian campaign to ensure that critical aid reaches the affected population as quickly as possible.

The funds raised through this initiative will be directed towards helping the most vulnerable families and individuals. This assistance will include the distribution of essential supplies such as food, water, and hygiene products, as well as the procurement of cleaning materials and water pumps to help repair the damage. Additionally, part of the funds will be allocated for the reconstruction of damaged homes, according to the statement.

It is worth noting that only a few days after launching the humanitarian campaign, Croatian Caritas had already sent €170,000 in financial aid to the flood-affected population. Of this amount, €100,000 came from the Emergency Fund of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference, while the remaining €70,000 was raised through donations from the public.

To date, a total of €330,000 in financial assistance has been raised and sent through Croatian Caritas. The humanitarian campaign has also been supported by the company Podravka d.d., which donated food products—including soups, biscuits, baby food, ajvar, jams, various pâtés, canned goods, and pasta—which Croatian Caritas has delivered to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This collective effort aims to provide relief to those facing immense challenges in the aftermath of the floods.
