Croatian President Zoran Milanovic’s Office denied the allegations that he denied the genocide in Srebrenica at the working lunch of the presidents of the Western Balkan countries during the Brdo-Brijuni Summit however, BiH Presidency Chairman Sefik Dzaferovic's Office confirmed earlier writings by regional media and N1 that Milanovic did indeed deny the Srebrenica genocide.
Milanovic's Office was brief in their statement to N1.
“A lie. We do not comment on lies”, they said.
Dzaferovic's Office said that usually, it is not a diplomatic practice to comment on the talks between heads of state but that this time they will make an exception.
“It is true that at a working lunch in Brdo, repeating his earlier publicly expressed views, the President of Croatia questioned the judgments of the Hague Tribunal on the genocide in Srebrenica. After being warned and confronted with the facts and findings from the judgments, Milanovic asserted that he has the right to question everything, including the verdicts, to which he received a sharp response from Chairman Dzaferovic, who said that if Milanović does not accept the verdicts of international courts on genocide, he has a serious problem”, BiH Presidency Chairman's Office stated in their response.
N1 published a news article on Tuesday based on regional media reports that Milanovic allegedly denied the genocide, after which BiH Presidency Chairman Sefik Dzaferovic and others allegedly reacted, recalling the International Court of Justice verdict proving the genocide and warning him that such a thing was not up for a discussion.
