Croatian Rights Party challenges Slaven Kovacevic's candidacy before Bosnia's Constitutional Court

In a statement, the party said it had presented detailed legal arguments explaining why it believes the decision to certify Kovacevic's candidacy is contrary to the Constitution, the constitutional principles of constituent peoples and legitimate political representation, as well as previous rulings of the Constitutional Court.

HSP BiH said it expects the Constitutional Court to carefully examine the appeal and rule in line with the principles of the rule of law and its established constitutional jurisprudence.

"We particularly believe the Court will uphold consistency with its previous decisions, as this is the only way to preserve legal certainty and citizens' trust in state institutions," the party said.

The party stressed that the appeal is not directed against Kovacevic personally but is intended to protect Bosnia and Herzegovina's constitutional order and ensure equality before the law.

"It is a matter of responsibility toward safeguarding the constitutional order and the principle that no one can be above the Constitution or the rules that apply equally to everyone," the statement said.

HSP BiH also thanked legal experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia who assisted in preparing the appeal, saying their expertise had strengthened the legal arguments submitted to the Constitutional Court.
