Croatian President caused a diplomatic incident Tuesday by denying the Srebrenica genocide during a working lunch of presidents of Western Balkan countries at the Brdo-Brijuni summit.

The Belgrade daily “Danas” was the first to announce that Milanovic repeated his earlier statement that there was no genocide in Srebrenica, which was later confirmed to N1 by several sources.

Namely, Milanovic said “that there are various types of genocide, but that it did not happen in Srebrenica”.

Bosnia Presidency Chairman Sefik Dzaferovic immediately condemned his statement receiving support from other leaders present at the table, who warned Milanovic that the truth about July 1995 in Srebrenica had been confirmed before the Hague Tribunal and that it should not be questioned at all.

N1 also learned that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was not present at the time of the incident but that BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik supported Milanovic.

This year's Brdo-Brijuni summit ended for the first time without the adoption of a declaration because Milanovic did not receive the necessary support to insert the sentence about legitimate representation into the text of the declaration. For that reason, the summit ended with conclusions instead of a declaration.
