Zeljka Cvijanovic, the Serb member of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tripartite Presidency, said her recent visit to the United States helped strengthen political trust and bilateral relations with BiH's Republika Srpska (RS) entity while presenting what she described as the “real situation” in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Cvijanovic said the visit demonstrated that Republika Srpska is making progress toward gaining broader international understanding and recognition.
“Republika Srpska is advancing well on the path toward presenting the truth about its position,” Cvijanovic said.
She stated that the entity seeks to build relationships with international partners and aims to be recognized as a stable and reliable political and economic partner. Cvijanovic added that discussions with representatives of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s political circle were conducted in what she described as an open and constructive atmosphere.
According to Cvijanovic, RS shares similar values with the United States, including support for sovereignty, democratic governance and voter rights. She said the entity seeks partnerships that allow it to present its political perspectives within Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Cvijanovic emphasized that RS is defending what she called its constitutional authority while insisting it does not seek to reduce the rights of other political actors in the country.
She also criticized Bosniak political representatives, accusing them of using international contacts to undermine RS’s institutions and leadership. Cvijanovic said RS’s diplomatic engagement aims to counter what she described as negative portrayals of the entity abroad.
She thanked U.S. officials for what she described as a willingness to engage with all political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding that recent decisions to lift certain sanctions signaled a more balanced U.S. approach.
