The Day of Remembrance for the fallen children of Sarajevo was observed in the BiH capital’s Square of Children of Sarajevo Thursday with parents and officials laying flowers and addressing the gathered residents.

Among the delegations present were members of the BiH Presidency Sefik Dzaferovic and Zeljko Komsic. Chairman Dzaferovic pointed out that the number of those responsible for the crimes is especially devastating on a day like this.

“What hurts the most is that only a small number of those who ordered these heinous crimes answered for them. There are many who are responsible for the siege of Sarajevo, sniping, shelling, and the murder of 1,601 children. Those responsible number in the hundreds and thousands and we will insist that they answer for their crime. It is known exactly who besieged Sarajevo – who were the commanders and crews, who were the snipers…,” Dzaferovic said, noting that these persons must be the job of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

Close to 16,000 children were wounded during the siege of Sarajevo. They were shot most often while playing in the streets.
