The delta strain coronavirus has made it to Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, the head of the RS Public Health Institute, Branislav Zeljkovic, said on Thursday.

Zeljkovic warned that the delta strain is spreading much faster, especially among the younger population.

“One infected person with the delta strain can infect 20 to 30 people. We need to think about all the epidemiological measures. Wearing masks is a very important link in the protection of citizens. It is very important to achieve the highest possible percentage of vaccinations,” he stressed.

In the period from August 20 to 27, 25 samples were tested, and the delta strain was detected in 24 people, said the head of the microbiology service of the Institute, Pava Dimitrijevic.
