Deputy Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slaven Galic, together with the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH, Lieutenant General Gojko Knezevic, and Deputy Chiefs Major Generals Toma Kolenda and Mirsad Ahmic, hosted a delegation from the Maryland National Guard, led by Brigadier General Amy Kremser. The meeting focused on the ongoing support provided by the U.S. government for the training and education of BiH Armed Forces personnel, as well as the overall cooperation between the two nations.
Galic expressed his appreciation for the U.S. government's contributions, particularly highlighting the donation of helicopters currently used to combat wildfires across the country. “I value what you are doing for the Armed Forces of BiH, as well as the civilian aid provided by the U.S. government. The equipment and various military training programs you have donated are invaluable,” he stated.
Brigadier General Kremser reaffirmed her commitment to further strengthening this collaboration, emphasizing the potential for expanded cooperation beyond the military sphere. She noted upcoming events in September that will include participation from BiH Armed Forces personnel.
Lieutenant General Knezevic highlighted the extensive and fruitful cooperation between BiH and the Maryland National Guard, particularly in joint exercises. Major General Kolenda mentioned that five activities are planned for this year, two of which have been completed, with an ongoing exercise in Germany involving BiH personnel among 160 participants.
Major General Ahmic expressed gratitude for the support in training personnel in various fields and for the assistance in equipping the air forces.
Galic concluded by acknowledging the critical role of the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) in these training efforts and extended thanks to Brigadier General Kremser, also conveying greetings from Minister Helez and Deputy Goganovic, who were unable to attend the meeting.
