After the meeting, BiH Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic and Geoana addressed the public, who confirmed that the basic message of the meeting is that NATO is an unwavering supporter of BiH's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“It’s a message not only to those in Bosnia and Herzegovina who live and dream of different scenarios but also to those who, in these great geopolitical upheavals around the world, may be planning to treat this part of Europe as their own sphere of interest,” said Konakovic.

He added part of that collective security guaranteed by the strongest military-political alliance, is giving BiH the opportunity to better prepare for any security challenge.

The Foreign Minister pointed out that Bosnia proved to be a credible partner to NATO because it participated in operations in Afghanistan.

“BiH is a long-term and close partner of NATO. Today we are discussing the security situation in your country, and the implications for stability in the wider region, because what is happening in BiH is important for the security of the Western Balkans, and what is happening in the Western Balkans is important for all of us in Europe. NATO strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH. Secessionist policies, and rhetoric of division undermine stability and hinder reforms. All political leaders must work together to preserve the unity and protection of state institutions,” Geoana said.

He said that NATO has been committed to BiH for years and supports the reform efforts of BiH, through its package for building defence capacities.
