Digital imperative: Banja Luka summit warns firms must evolve to stay competitive and retain talent

At the 'Digital Trends in Business' conference, hosted jointly by the US Chamber of Commerce in Bosnia and Banja Luka-based firm LANACO, delegates debated digital infrastructure, skills development, cloud migration, and the digitalisation of both education and the banking sector.

Nedim Hamzic, Director of the US Chamber of Commerce in BiH, explained that the event aimed to bring together pioneering firms already undergoing digital transformation to share their expertise with businesses currently lagging behind.

According to Hamzic, the conference serves as the flagship event in a nationwide campaign designed to promote digital trends in commerce.

"We want organisations that have already begun adapting their internal processes to share their insights with those just starting out on their digitalisation journey. Not every experience is seamless, and it is vital that we discuss the hurdles and missteps along the way," Hamzic noted.

Dragan Ninic, Vice President of LANACO, stated that global technological shifts are making the accelerated digitalisation of corporate processes and public institutions unavoidable.

"The question nowadays is no longer whether we wish to digitalise, but how rapidly we can execute it to remain relevant and secure a future for our economy and citizens," Ninic remarked.

He further observed that the primary obstacle is not an inadequate legal framework, but rather the sluggish pace of adoption and the need for a shift in mindset amongst the public and corporate bodies alike.

The conference brought together representatives from IT firms, the banking sector, and the wider business community from across Bosnia, with panels focusing on digital skills development, fintech, and the deployment of modern technologies in commercial operations.
