The president of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, said after a meeting with a delegation of the HDZ BiH, led by Bosnian Croat leader Dragan Covic, that the two parties will continue their cooperation and that, in the coming period, he expects amendments to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Election Law to prevent, as he put it, “the shameful outvoting of the Croat constituent people”.

“We expect that in the coming period there will be a need to change the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina so that in next year’s general elections this shameful outvoting of the Croatian constituent people will be prevented through amendments to the election law. Our colleagues from HDZ know that we have been supporting this for over a decade, and we are ready to take part in that process,” Dodik said.

He added that everything High Representative Christian Schmidt has done in connection with election legislation “represents a caricature and a mockery of the electoral process,” and that “all his decisions should be annulled.”

Speaking about the future of BiH, Dodik stated that a “permanent solution” would be the formation of three entities.

“We believe that a permanent solution for Bosnia and Herzegovina would be for it to be organized in such a way that it has three entities — Muslim, Croat, and Serb — and that these entities would serve as electoral units. Then no one could interfere in another people’s electoral process, and the principle of constitutiveness would be best expressed through such a system,” Dodik said.

Dodik often uses the term "Muslim" when referring to Bosniaks.

According to him, the SNSD and HDZ have a long-standing “correct and stable” cooperation, which, he emphasized, will continue in the future.

Covic said that during this meeting they had the opportunity to discuss many topics. He added that his party maintains intensive communication with the SNSD.

“The HDZ strongly advocates for peace and stability in BiH, and we communicate that completely transparently — about the European path and, of course, about constitutionally ensuring the equality of all three constituent peoples, which we primarily understand through legitimate representation. And that’s what we presented today to our friends from the SNSD, just as we have done in the past month or two with all other parties we have met with", he said.
