According to the Bosnian Serb member of the tripartite BiH Presidency, many things which representatives of the country's Republika Srpska (RS) entity complained about in the agreement BiH political representatives accepted in Brussels on Sunday were taken into account and that, while “nothing was signed”, the final document represents a “complete defeat” for his Bosnian Croat colleague in the Presidency, Zeljko Komsic, because it mentions the concept of “constituent peoples” in BiH. “The document was presented to us only at the beginning of the meeting and there was a lot of inaccurate information in it. I want to say that we acted in a united manner, with tactical behaviour,” Dodik said.

Dodik, who is also the leader of the SNSD, the ruling party in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, said that politicians from the other entity, the Federation (FBiH), had “set the toughest possible conditions for us from the Republika Srpska.”

Dodik said that what was in essence agreed upon was the principle of fair and democratic elections in BiH which will take place in October.

He stressed that nothing had been signed and that almost all the demands of the RS representatives were respected.

“We have said that we will not accept the UN Resolution condemning the aggression against Ukraine. We did not want to accept that. In the end, it said we would keep this in mind, and we had that in mind even before we went there. Our request was to state that BiH is ‘composed’ of two entities and the Brcko District and that there should be three constituent peoples,” he said.

Dodik argued that the document represents “complete defeat” for his Bosnian Croat colleague in the Presidency, Zeljko Komsic since it takes into account the status of constituent peoples in BiH.

“We know that he is trying to avoid this narrative of constituent peoples, and that is what the document says,” Dodik said, adding that the document says there that the decisions of foreign and domestic courts are accepted, but that those of the Constitutional Court has been removed.

He called on the European Council to grant Bosnia and Herzegovina EU candidate status as soon as possible.
