Dodik backs Israel, condemns recognition of Palestine: “Unilateral moves undermine international law”

Milorad Dodik, President of BiH's Republika Srpska (RS) entity, voiced strong support for Israel, criticizing recent moves by countries such as France and the United Kingdom to recognize Palestine as a state without reaching an agreement with Israel.

“A state that does not exist in fact cannot be recognized in law,” Dodik wrote in a statement shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He warned that decades-long conflicts cannot be solved through “unilateral political gestures,” which he argued only serve to generate new tensions.
Dodik characterized the recognition of the Palestinian Authority as a state without Israel’s consent as “not an act of peace,” but rather a dangerous precedent that undermines the foundations of international law and threatens global stability.
He accused France and the UK of projecting their “own geopolitical frustrations onto others,” at the expense of international order. “Peace between Israel and [Palestine] must begin with the elimination of the terrorist organization Hamas,” he added, insisting that any resolution must come through negotiation between the Jewish and Palestinian peoples—not “symbolic and impulsive decisions that ignore the realities on the ground.”

Dodik concluded his statement with a warning against using international law for political public relations, stating: “While many may choose to remain silent, Republika Srpska will not—because we know all too well what it means when others attempt to shape your destiny without you.”
