The President of Bosnia’s Serb-majority Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, continued his secessionist rhetoric on X, formerly Twitter, and called for "talks at the institutional level regarding separation." He noted that the "game" organized by "Bosnian Muslims" regarding Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe will cost BiH, and called out the politicians of the Troika, stating that by talking to Peace Implementation Council ambassadors they distance themselves from the conversation with the representatives of the entity he heads.
“Maybe [BiH Presidency member Zeljko] Komsic thinks that he managed to do something because he remained abstained [at the Presidency vote regarding Bosnia’s position on Kosovo’s Council of Europe membership], but that doesn’t fundamentally change anything, except that the message is clear to us in the Republika Srpska that they have publicly shown that everything we do to preserve our constitutional position is correct and is the only thing possible in conditions of constant subterfuge and attempts to overthrow Republika Srpska and circumvent the decision-making process by unilateral action”, Dodik wrote, stating that all these actions open additional perspectives for Republika Srpska.
“We have already separated, in everything. We need to formalize our peaceful separation, which ‘Bosnian Muslims’ initiated with their unilateral moves and the destruction of the constitutional order. It would be best for everyone living in Bosnia and Herzegovina to start discussions on separation at the institutional level because a peaceful separation is a fact and everything should be done to ensure stability and cooperation in the way that is possible. We cannot be in a community with those who constantly see us as enemies and do everything to strengthen enmity and hatred towards the Serb people,” the RS President added.
However, after that, he continued to speak about the meeting between the “Troika” (Social Democratic Party, People and Justice party, and Our Party) politicians and the PIC ambassadors, stating that “their escape under international cover will not go as they imagined”.
“If their permanent commitment is to, as they say, get out of the current crisis with international engagement, then they have nothing to talk about with the RS and the representatives of the institutions, and they can only negotiate with the PIC on how to definitively get out of the Dayton BiH with their own unilateral actions which they have already embarked on. If they want the Dayton BiH to survive, then they will return to the constitutional framework in which there is no place for foreign representatives. They can do what they want, but not as long they want,” he stated, among other things, repeating that Republika Srpska conducts its own policies and goes its own way.
Dodik has intensified his hate speech and secessionist threats in recent weeks, which has been strongly condemned by Bosnian citizens, part of the RS opposition and the international community.
On May 2, the UN Security Council should discuss the resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, which is why the ruling politicians from RS, as well as the leadership of Serbia, are raising additional tensions even though, according to UN officials and creators, the resolution it does not mention collective responsibility or the name of any country.
Due to anti-constitutional actions, threats of secessionism and denial of genocide, calls were sent to the BiH Prosecutor's Office to prosecute Dodik, as well as his supporters.
