The President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, criticised the European Union, arguing that it wants the people to “give up their identity” in return for funds and that he will never agree to the adoption of the EU’s “LGPD” laws in the entity.
“It does not necessarily mean that everything that comes from the EU is the best for us. We have to figure out what is best for us. We do not want to give up our identity and traditional values to accept European values just for the money they offer. They put you in the humiliating position of paying the entire nation to supposedly transform itself from a traditional family into a liberal one that wants it,” Dodik said.
“We are not in favour of promoting values coming from Europe in this regard. If that's a request, we won't adopt laws on … you know what I'm talking about – LGPD. That's not something we're going to pursue here. People can do whatever they want. But for us to introduce these values into elementary schools, into our textbooks, that won't happen while I'm sitting here,” said Dodik.
It is assumed that Dodik was referring to LGBT, i.e. laws that enable equal rights for members of this population.
