Milorad Dodik, the leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), stated on Wednesday that his meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was "very successful, good, and full of trust." Local media reported that the discussions focused on strategic economic projects and key political developments in the region and across Europe.

Dodik's visit to Budapest marks his first foreign trip following the recent elections in Republika Srpska (RS), the Bosnian entity where SNSD candidate Siniša Karan claimed victory in the presidential race, a result Dodik describes as crucial for maintaining political continuity.

"We discussed our cooperation and confirmed its highest level," Dodik stated, emphasizing that the main part of the meeting addressed economic projects at a strategic level, as well as assessments of political trends in the Balkans and Europe.

"It is always impressive to listen to Orban and his assessments regarding the possible end of the war in Ukraine, the development of the situation within the European Union, and preparations for the elections in April," he added.

Dodik also informed the Hungarian Prime Minister about the post-election situation in Republika Srpska, reiterating his claims of "unconstitutional decisions" that he alleges accompanied the electoral process.

"We explained the entire process, which looked more like a campaign to destabilize Republika Srpska. Nevertheless, we held elections where Sinisa Karan won, and we thanked Orbán for being the first to send congratulations," he said.

Dodik added that Orban noted the symbolism of having three key political representatives from Republika Srpska, those who held or will hold the function of president, arrive together in Budapest. "It shows that we are a team that will continue to work together," Dodik remarked.

He underscored that the developments in Republika Srpska confirm political continuity and the entity's longstanding close cooperation with Hungary.

"This was an unusually good meeting, friendly and full of trust," Dodik concluded, adding that they also discussed "new projects and new political assessments”.
