The President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity Milorad Dodik said that, although the RS is in favor of an agreement being reached within BiH regarding changes to the Election Law, it is also determined to put an end to BiH's EU path if the High Representative of the international community, Christian Schmidt, tries to interfere in the process. “In that case, the RS will adopt its own election law and conduct elections,” wrote Dodik on social media.

Dodik said that “earlier, they took away the competences of the RS in regard to the elections” and he interpreted the Dayton Agreement as saying that “BiH can conduct elections for members of the Presidency and the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, and everything else should be conducted by the Republika Srpska”.

Dodik is currently in Belarus with a delegation, and he is scheduled to meet with President Alexander Lukashenko.
