Milorad Dodik, President of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), responded to the recent parade of Serbian military cadets in Bratunac and Prijedor, asserting that the BiH Presidency will not be consulted on such matters in the future, either.

“Zeljko Komsic suddenly remembers the Presidency when it suits him, but when Denis Becirovic goes abroad and speaks against Republika Srpska, there is no mention of the BiH Presidency. Figures like Komsic have undermined the Presidency with their illegitimate election as the Croat member. Komsic and Becirovic, the Bosniak member, likely coordinated this,” Dodik said, addressing Komsic’s objections to the parade.

Dodik questioned why the Presidency was not considered when Becirovic recently represented BiH in Italy, alleging “false representation”.

“They are troubled by a handful of unarmed academy cadets while failing to acknowledge the significance of Kozara as a major site of Serb suffering. Instead of addressing this, they criticize the proud young men and women in uniform,” Dodik added.

He noted that the RS will not seek permission from the BiH Presidency in the future.

“You now lecture us on the Presidency's decisions, yet you ignored it on fundamental issues. You expect us to respect a BiH that you have destroyed including the non-existent Presidency. We will not honour it, nor will you. Only when you return to the framework of the BiH Presidency and prove your seriousness will we discuss this matter,” he concluded.

The controversy arose as Serbian Army cadets paraded through Prijedor on July 7, following a similar event in Bratunac the previous day.
