Milorad Dodik, the President of Bosnia's Serb-majority entity Republika Srpska, said that the indictment against him has no legal ground, calling it “shameless” and based on a “quasi-law.”
“This is shameless, this is the jeopardising of sovereignty that many are fighting for in BiH. This has nothing to do with law, this is political violence,” Dodik said on Saturday, blaming the US Ambassador to be behind the whole case.
“The man who is coming up with what to do against RS every day and spreading Serbophobia,” he stressed, accusing the ambassador of reaching to “Muslim prosecutor” to carry this out.

Dodik's reaction comes a day after the information that the State Prosecutor's Office issued indictment against him and Milos Lukic, acting director of the Official Gazette of the RS, over their refusal to implement decisions of the High Representative of the international community on the territory of the RS.
Commenting the indictment, High Representative Christian Schmidt, said that “nobody is above the law.”
But, Dodik reiterated his denial of Schmidt as the High Representative and kept calling the Bosniaks, one of three major ethnic groups in BiH alongside the Serbs and the Croats – Muslims.
High Representative on Dodik indictment: Nobody is above the law
He stressed that there is no law based on which the indictment could be issued and addressed a series of accusations towards the Prosecutor's Office.
“The Prosecutor's Office failed to persist the pressure and accepted to deliver what it was requested, an indictment that was written with the assistance of (US ambassador Michael) Murphy and you could see that only the US embassy and non-existent Office of the High Representative commented on it. I had no dilemma what to do or to pay attention to laws that are not legally grounded. I did the job of the president and I will do so every time when RS and its National Assembly pass a law,” he said.
However, Dodik confirmed he would respond if he is summoned.
He also compared his situation with that of some convicted war criminals.
“This was a gift for me. As a political figure I will inform the Serbs what is being prepared for them and will homogenise the Serbs and Republika Srpska to the maximum. I am not sure what will the court do, but if it (the indictment) is confirmed, it will mean a harangue and that would be a part of Serbophobia. Republika Srpska will not be immune to that. I am grateful to all those who reacted yesterday and those who did not – who are happy that Dodik is in a problem. And I think it is essential to defend RS President, and that neither Dodik nor many others in history who fought for the rights of the Serb people in RS can count on its comfort. Neither Karadzic nor Mladic counted on their comfort, or if they were then it would be a question what would have happened,” he stressed.
Dodik also accused some media outlets including N1, Buka and BN TV of working “at the West's order” and receiving money for that, indirectly announcing lawsuits.
