The President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, threatened an unnamed American official that he could be expelled from Banja Luka due to his actions.
“The information we have says that some officials from the US office is visiting banks, visiting companies, threatening them and trying to destabilize the situation. He will be warned these days not to do that. If he continues, he will be expelled from Banja Luka, regardless of the fact that he is a US official,” Dodik told reporters after the meeting of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) leadership.
Dodik did not specify what function that official performs.
BiH media state that there is no legal possibility for an embassy official to be expelled by the RS authorities because even if an embassy official violates diplomatic protocols, that would not be within the competence of any entity, but within the state competencies.
The US recently expanded the list of sanctioned persons in the RS, and Igor Dodik, the son of the RS President, and companies connected to him were also added to the US “blacklist”.
Legal entities that continue to cooperate with sanctioned companies connected to the Dodik family risk being placed on the US “blacklist” themselves.
