Threats of secession are unacceptable, groundless, unrealistic, and contribute to a climate of distrust and tension, EU Delegation told N1 responding to Republika Srpska (RS) entity President Milorad Dodik’s renewed threats over the past several weeks.
“We call on President Dodik to instead work on improving the quality of life in this country and abandon the failed rhetoric of division and distraction which prevents Bosnia and Herzegovina from realising its considerable potential,” the Delegation said.
They recalled that the RS President signed a coalition agreement to work towards Bosnia's European integration and has publicly committed to EU accession process as the most important strategic objective for the country, including the RS “as its integral part.”
“We urge him to stick to his promises. The European Union is unequivocally committed to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina. EU will continue supporting BiH on its EU path, especially in meeting the 14 Key Priorities from the European Commission Opinion on BiH’s membership application.”
