US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried said during her visit to BiH that "there is no legal, technical or political reason" to postpone the elections in BiH, and that this right must be guaranteed to citizens. She also underlined that the United States does not want to abolish the Republika Srpska entity, but that "the United States will not remain idle while the current leadership of the Republika Srpska seeks to dismantle the state."
Donfried stated that she met with leaders in the field of politics, defence and civil society Wednesday to discuss ways in which the United States could get involved in solving the problems that the country is facing.
She stated that she emphasized the support of the United States to Bosnia and Herzegovina, its sovereignty, territorial integrity and multiethnic character.
