Dragan Covic, the leader of the Croat Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) was reelected on Saturday to the post he has been occupying since 2005, at the party convention in Mostar. He will continue to lead the party for the next four years.

Covic was the only candidate for this position and was elected unanimously. Some 570 party members from BiH participated in the convention where they elected a new leadership for a four-year mandate.

Before the very beginning of the session, Covic announced new personnel solutions and said that the European path has no alternative.

– I am sure that we will offer a new dimension through this convention regarding the personnel policy and the messages we will send from it,” Covic said ahead of the 14th HDZ BiH convention.

He is convinced that the party's basic principles will be preserved and that the European path has no alternative.

The convention was attended by numerous guests, representatives of the international community, diplomats, and party delegations, including the delegation of the sister party HDZ, as well as representatives of the academic community, churches, entrepreneurs and other dignitaries.
