There will be no progress in the Western Balkans until everyone is prepared to face the past and stops protecting those accused or convicted of war crimes, said the Bosniak member of the tripartite BiH Presidency, Sefik Dzaferovic, commenting on Serbia's refusal to extradite war crimes suspect Dusko Kornjaca.
The investigative journalism portal Istraga.ba last week published a video of Dusko Kornjaca, who is the subject of a Red Notice Interpol warrant as he is accused of crimes against humanity committed in Cajnice in Bosnia.

Kornjaca seems to be living in the Serbian city of Novi Sad. The journalist knocked on his door and confronted him, and Kornjaca then smashed his mobile phone.
Serbia’s President, Aleksandar Vucic, said that Kornjaca is a citizen of Serbia whose “extradition is requested by Bosnia and Herzegovina and the pro-Western opposition,” and called the war crimes suspect “a respectable doctor.”
He said he will not and does not have a legal right to arrest Kornjaca based on the warrant.
Dzaferovic commented on Vucic's statements on Sunday, saying that the Serbian Presidency did not say anything new.
“What we know is simply confirmed. I just wonder how the entire international community and the world public can listen to such news. We from BiH cannot do anything to change that policy, but the international community can,” Dzaferovic said.
There will be no progress in the Western Balkan until everyone faces the truth, he said, and “one of the key priorities and elements of facing the truth is not protecting those who are accused and convicted of war crimes.”
