Economic analyst Faruk Hadzic stated that, statistically, Bosnia and Herzegovina is no longer in inflation. However, the severe economic crisis has left significant consequences, particularly for pensioners in the Federation of BiH who may face difficulties next year.

Hadzic pointed out that the standard of living for BiH citizens has declined: ‘Inflation has caused considerable damage. Policymakers allowed it to explode, and despite our efforts to provide guidance, the price rise was drastic. Inflation in FBiH is now 1.2% and around 2% nationwide.’

He emphasized that this year has been particularly challenging and warned that pensioners might face a problem with modest pension adjustments in FBiH next year, potentially not exceeding 2%.

Hadzic also addressed the employment situation: ‘There are discrepancies between official data and the reality on the ground. The real unemployment rate is around 13%, but many registered as unemployed are not actively seeking work. Additionally, there is a significant issue with the black market where many work unofficially.’

Regarding financial support and employment programs, Hadzic criticized the lack of substantial support and suggested implementing voucher systems for childcare and skill training to motivate job seekers.

He concluded by highlighting the demographic challenges: ‘The population is aging rapidly, posing a significant challenge for the sustainability of the social system in the next 10 to 15 years. There will be a need to import labor and increase women's participation in the workforce to ensure economic stability.’
