Efficient dam management prevents catastrophic flooding along Neretva River

Catastrophic consequences in the Neretva river basin have been avoided through timely planning and management of hydroelectric power plants by Elektroprivreda BiH. Intense precipitation and rapid snowmelt accompanied by rain caused the level of the Jablanica reservoir to rise by more than 10 meters within 48 hours. However, the dams successfully prevented significantly larger water flows toward Mostar, Pocitelj, Capljina, and Metkovic, which would have inevitably triggered floods and major damage. Pročitaj više
