Electricity, coal and coke production down in FBiH in September, oil imports up

Gross electricity production in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) reached 463 GWh in September 2025, down from 502 GWh in the same month last year.

Hydropower plants accounted for 36.5 percent of total output, thermal power plants for 57.5 percent, and wind farms for 6 percent.

Brown coal production in September 2025 totalled 322,292 tonnes, compared to 332,961 tonnes in September 2024. Lignite production rose to 131,720 tonnes from 125,449 tonnes a year earlier, while coke production fell to 24,693 tonnes from 34,037 tonnes.

Imports of petroleum products totalled 123,864 tonnes in September 2025, compared with 114,097 tonnes in the same period of 2024. Diesel accounted for 72.68 percent of total imports, followed by unleaded motor gasoline at 11.9 percent and fuel oil and extra light heating oil at 6.34 percent, according to data from the FBiH Statistics Agency.
