Acting CEO for Supply and Trade of the Elektrorpivreda BiH power company, Nevad Ikanovic, spoke with the director of the USAID Energy Sector Assistance Project (USAID EPA), Mak Kamenica, and project members about the importance of the establishment of the energy exchange in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Since Bosnia is the only country in the region and Europe that has not established an energy exchange, the representatives of Elektroprivreda BiH informed the USAID EPA about the steps they are taking to participate in the exchanges in the region but also emphasized their readiness to fully engage in the establishment of an exchange in our country.
During the meeting, representatives of the USAID EPA presented documents prepared by the project as part of its activities to create preconditions for the establishment of the energy exchange in BiH, as well as the progress in drafting the state law on the electricity and natural gas regulator, transmission and electricity market in BiH since the USAID EPA is in charge of providing technical assistance in the drafting of the aforementioned law.
The USAID EPA also announced the organization of technical workshops on the separation of distribution system operators, consumption management and balancing of households and small commercial customers, as well as the Energy Summit in BiH 2024, the largest energy event in the country, which will be held from April 23 to 26, 2024.
