The largest party in the European Parliament, the European People's Party (EPP), condemned, on Tuesday, the recent actions calling into question Bosnia’s territorial integrity and incitement were unacceptable.
“We strongly condemn the most recent unacceptable incitement calling into question Bosnia and Herzegovina’s territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty. Any unconstitutional secessionist actions, departing from the constitutional and legal framework, must cease, while the current blockade of institutions must be ended immediately, to allow BiH to tackle necessary reforms and further pursue its EU perspective. We condemn both the denial and the glorification of any and all war crimes and all acts that provoke fears of a new conflict, and jointly call upon Bosnia and Herzegovina and its authorities to uphold peace and achieve progress,” the EPP tweeted.
The authorities in Bosnia's Serb-dominated Republika Srpska (RS) entity adopted a set of conclusions in December last year ordering the entity government to draft laws according to which they would withdraw their consent on the formation of several key state institutions and abolish over 140 state-level laws, making them void on the territory of this entity.
Last weekend, the authorities celebrated the unconstitutional Day of the RS in the presence of RS officials, state-level officials from the RS, as well as representatives of the Russian, Chinese and Serbian embassies, the Prime minister and ministers from the Serbian government as well as two French far-right politicians. The French Embassy to BiH later distanced themselves and the state of France from the two, saying that they came as private citizens and in no way did they represent the French government.
The celebration featured a parade of militarized entity police units and members of the Russian biker gang called the Night Wolves, dressed in paramilitary uniforms.
