EU Delegation: BiH must adopt law regulating state property

BiH should adopt legislation that will regulate state property issues in accordance with Constitutional Court decisions, the EU Delegation in BiH said in regard to the adoption of the Draft Law on Immovable Property in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity.

The EU Delegation pointed out the important role of BiH’s Constitutional Court in ensuring the rule of law and that its rulings are final and binding.

“The issue of state and military property must be addressed in full accordance with the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which implies the adoption of legislation at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina that will regulate these issues,” the it said.

The EU urged newly elected authorities to “refrain from activities that contradict the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

“The opportunity and momentum offered by the granting of candidate status and the new coalition at the state level should be used to achieve progress in key reforms, including resolving the issue of state property,” it said.
