EU diplomats honour Srebrenica victims and reaffirm stance against genocide denial

Following the visit, Soreca reiterated the European Union’s firm position regarding historical truth and international justice, emphasizing that there can be no tolerance for the denial of genocide or the glorification of convicted war criminals.

"The EU’s stance is clear. There is no room for the denial of genocide and crimes against humanity, or for the glorification of those convicted of war crimes. The rulings of international courts are facts to be respected," Soreca stated via his official account on X.

During their time in Potocari, the diplomatic delegation met with Munira Subasic and other representatives of the Mothers of Srebrenica, acknowledging their persistent efforts to preserve the memory of the more than 8,000 Muslim men and boys killed in the genocide.

Soreca highlighted that honoring the victims and accepting established judicial facts remain essential components for building long-term peace, trust, and reconciliation in the region. He added that the EU and its member states maintain an unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and supporting survivors to ensure future generations inherit peace rather than division.
