The High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, has suspended all budget funds intended for financing the political parties SNSD and United Srpska, allocated for all levels of government in BiH.

On this occasion, we contacted the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Regarding the High Representative's decision of April 24 to suspend the disbursement of budgetary funds for party financing purposes, the European Union reminds that recent laws and initiatives in the entity of Republika Srpska undermine both the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the functioning of institutions at the state level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while also threatening the fundamental freedoms of all citizens.
The European Union remains concerned about developments in Republika Srpska and is working closely with its partners. Actions directed against the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and constitutional order will lead to serious consequences," the Delegation responded.

"Following the decision of the European Council in March 2024 to open accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, the European Union calls on all political actors to refocus the country’s efforts on achieving progress along the European path. Advancing on the European path represents the best guarantee of stability and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with multiple benefits for the citizens of this country", it added.
