The Head of the European Union Delegation to the United Nations, Stavros Lambrinidis, addressed the session of the UN Security Council where the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed on Tuesday. He reaffirmed that the European Union firmly supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, warning that any actions aimed at undermining these principles would lead to serious consequences.

Lambrinidis emphasized the EU’s deep concern over recent developments in BiH's Republika Srpska (RS) entity, pointing specifically to legislative initiatives and rhetoric that challenge Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path toward European integration and promote secessionist agendas. He stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, judicial order, and international legal status must be respected, and warned that any steps taken against these foundations would result in serious consequences.
He also highlighted the importance of EUFOR Althea’s presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, noting that the mission plays a vital role in helping local authorities maintain a safe and secure environment for all citizens.

Furthermore, Lambrinidis reiterated the European Union’s ongoing support for close cooperation with international actors, the continued mandate of the High Representative, and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European future as a unified and sovereign state. He called on all political leaders in the country to shift their focus toward advancing EU accession and to commit to implementing the necessary reforms without delay.
