EU representative in BiH, Luigi Soreca, announced that funds for flood-affected areas in BiH will be operational by January.
“This is one of the most tragic and devastating disasters I have witnessed. €20 million will be allocated across housing, economic recovery, and infrastructure. The funds will be managed by UN agencies with input from local governments,” Soreca said.
He urged swift action: “I call on all levels of government to act. Local communities need support and understanding.”
On reforms, Soreca welcomed the Council of Ministers’ adoption of two key EU-required laws and stressed the urgency of passing four crucial laws by March, including judicial reforms.
“The chief negotiator must represent the entire country with a unified voice. This is vital for EU integration,” Soreca added.
Soreca praised Albania as a positive model for judicial reform: “Albania’s success in this area has significantly advanced its EU path.”
He emphasized the need for BiH to finalize the Reform Agenda, warning that delays could reduce EU funding and impact opportunities beyond 2027.
“This is critical for citizens, businesses, and the younger generation,” Soreca concluded.
