Fronda met Mayor Milan Zecevic on November 6 as part of EUFOR’s regular engagement with municipal authorities across the country. Their discussions covered local developments, economic priorities and the importance of maintaining a stable and secure environment.
Brod lies on Bosnia’s northern border with Croatia, within Republika Srpska, one of the country’s two entities.
According to EUFOR, Fronda welcomed the mayor’s open and constructive approach and the municipal administration’s focus on Brod’s future development. He highlighted efforts to strengthen the local economy, attract investment and create opportunities for residents.
The commander described the forward-looking approach demonstrated by Zecevic and his administration as an example of how effective local government can contribute to public confidence, stability and development.
Investment and local priorities
Zecevic outlined the municipality’s priorities and planned projects, emphasising its ambition to make Brod a stable, safe and attractive community for residents, visitors and potential investors.
The discussions linked those development goals with the importance of a secure environment in which communities can prosper.
EUFOR’s account did not identify individual projects or investment commitments arising from the meeting. Its assessment focused on the administration’s approach to development and its engagement with the military force.
Dialogue with municipal authorities
EUFOR said direct contact with local leaders was an important part of its work throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Regular meetings with mayors and municipal representatives provide insight into local perspectives, priorities and developments.
The force supports the maintenance of a safe and secure environment in Bosnia through its Operation Althea mission. Engagement with communities and local authorities forms part of its presence across the country.
At the end of the meeting, Fronda thanked Zecevic for the welcome and the constructive exchange of views. He also expressed appreciation for the mayor’s commitment to the municipality and its residents.
EUFOR said it continued to welcome opportunities for constructive cooperation with local authorities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
